How can the weekend be over ALREADY? I didn't get nearly as much accomplished as I had hoped... AGAIN. I got to the gym once, I built a shelf unit for Coley's room, and... I played Wii with Logan a lot and slept late both Saturday and Sunday. Therein lies the problem. Well, not really a problem, but the sticking point. I have all these lists and all this stuff I want to get done. And I always figure I will be able to knock a lot of the stuff out over the weekend, since Larry will be here to help with the kids. So my expectations go up. Then, REALITY. I like to sleep in on the weekends, and Larry lets me, to a certain extent. So there is half the morning, gone. Then, maybe Larry wants to get something done, or we want to do something as a family, etc etc. I think you see what I am getting at. My plans of productivity and efficiency get replaced with the realities of family life: it's not about one person being the standout, but about what is best for everyone. And that is a good thing. I just need to adjust my expectations when it comes to how much I can really accomplish on the Mommy-list.
Looking ahead to this week: there is a lot to do! It is time to start getting ready for Logan's 4th Birthday Party! Which means a lot of house cleaning and organization. We are still in such a chaotic mess, I feel like we will never be completely moved in and organized. But I think we are making small amounts of progress. Keep shuffling forward with those baby steps. Anyway, lots of cleaning this week, Logan should be back in school BOTH days this week (everyone is ALMOST 100% healthy again - Yeah!), and planning for the party. Then comes the big payoff: Mommy Day Out on Saturday!! WOO HOO! I claimed this last week, and am SO looking forward to it. After the craziness of the holidays, and everyone in the house being sick for the last 2 months, I deserve a day out, on my own! These are so wonderful to take sometimes, whether you are truly alone and enjoying the quiet, or if you've got friends with you, just take some time to make yourself happy and recharge those batteries! I will be getting a haircut, then heading out to the Container Store, my new favorite little treat shop "Pudding on the Rice," and possibly getting my nails done and having dinner with some amazing friends - can't wait!!!
